   POP Setup for Outlook 2003  

  1. Open Outlook.
     
  2. Go to the Tools menu at the top and select E-mail Accounts.

  3. Choose Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
     
  4. For Server Type choose POP and click Next.
     
  5. Type in Your Name as you want it to appear in your e-mails.

  6. Type in your E-mail address (username@uidaho.edu).
     
  7. For the Incoming Mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu.
     
  8. For the Outgoing Mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu.
     
  9. For the User Name, enter only your username (Everything before the @ symbol in your e-mail address).
     
  10. For the Password, type in your Novell/AD password.
     
  11. Click on the More Settings . . . button.
     
  12. Make sure all the fields under the General tab and the Servers tab are filled out correctly.
     
  13. Under the Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

  14. Have Use same settings as my incoming mail server selected.
     
  15. Choose the Advanced Tab.  Check both boxes labeled This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). If you would like to keep a copy of your mail on the UI E-mail servers, put a check mark in the box labeled Leave a copy of messages on server.
     
  16. Change the "Outgoing server (SMTP):" port from 25 to 587


     
  17. Now you can click OK then press next and Finish to return to Outlook.

You may now check your mail by pressing the Send/Receive button.
