  POP Setup for Outlook 2007  

1.       Login to https://support.uidaho.edu/

 

2.       Select the “Exchange Features” menu item

 

3.       Next to the POP3 service option select “Set to Enable” to enable POP3 service

 

4.       Then go to the client instructions.

  •    Open Outlook.
  •  
    1. In Entourage select Tools from the menu bar and click on Account Settings.

    2. Choose "New...", Select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click Next.

    3. Check the box for Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.

    4. Choose Internet E-mail and click Next.

    5. Fill in the Your Name field as you want it to appear on your e-mails.

    6. Type in your E-mail address (username@uidaho.edu).
       
    7. Select POP from the Account Type menu.
       
    8. For the Incoming Mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu.
       
    9. For the Outgoing Mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu.
       
    10. For the User Name, enter only your username (Everything before the @ symbol in your e-mail address).
       
    11. For the Password, type in your Novell/AD password.
       
    12. Click on the More Settings . . . button.
       
    13. Make sure all the fields under the General tab are filled out correctly.
       
    14. Under the Outgoing Server tab, put a check mark next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

    15. Have Use same settings as my incoming mail server selected.
       
    16. Choose the Advanced Tab and check the both box labeled This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming server.
       
    17. For Outgoing Server set Use the following type of encrypted connection: to TLS.
       
    18. Change the "Outgoing server (SMTP):" port from 25 to 587


       
    19. Now you can select OK then press next and Finish to return to Outlook.

    You may now check your mail by hitting the Send/Receive button.
